Who
is Linguistics ?
In general linguistics is the study of the language or
languages as the science that makes the object of study. In The New
Oxford Dictionary of English (2003), “The scientific study of
language and its structure, including the study of grammar, syntax, and
phonetics. Specific branches of linguistics include sociolinguistics,
dialectology, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, comparative
linguistics, and structural linguistics.”
Linguistics
is derived from the Latin lingua meaning is 'language'. While the terms of
French linguistics
is linguistique, in English is linguistics, and in the Dutch language is
linguistiek. In the French language there are two terms, namely langue and
